John Graham | The Jiu Jitsu Mindset Podcast

full interview podcast Mar 22, 2024

Australian-born entrepreneur John Graham has lived what Pete calls several lifetimes in one: rugby player, CrossFit competitor, boxer, bodybuilder, gym owner and fight promoter. With Professor Lucas Rubbo co-hosting, John traces how a skinny, red-haired kid looking for confidence came through two dislocated shoulders in rugby, a worn-out knee from CrossFit and a tumor he links to years of head impacts in boxing, and what he noticed backstage at bodybuilding shows: even the biggest competitors carry a "teddy bear" inside, the unconfident boy who keeps chasing proof that he is worthy.

John explains how one glance at his opponent on a staircase before a fight got into his head and cost him the bout, why it is the rising stakes, not the other fighter, that make champions crack, and gives a boxing insider's read on Tyson Fury, Jake Paul and the influencer boxing boom. He tells how White Collar Fight Night started after a late-night conversation and grew to 37 events built on matchmaking stories between working professionals, raising money for Captivating International's education programs for girls in rural China. He closes on slowing down for family and the red light therapy that led him to Lumaflex.
