Pete and Professor Lucas Rubbo ask whether jiu-jitsu is an individual sport or a team sport, and Lucas calls it "the most individual team sport ever." You fight alone on competition day, he says, not because you hate the person in front of you but because you love everyone behind you. He looks back on the coaches who shaped him as a teenager in Brazil, one playful and patient, one firm and direct, one he could never score a point on, and on the day the head professor sent him home for arriving ten minutes late to his first competition class, a lesson about commitment he still remembers.

The two talk about what makes a bad teammate, from going too rough or using illegal moves to coaching your partner while you are losing, and how careless teasing can wreck someone's 90 minutes on the mat. The host, nearing two years of training, describes how his teammates' patience keeps him coming back, and shares a lesson from a CEO early in his business career: leadership means standing up for the people around you. They recall two young girls from the gym who met in a tournament final and hugged afterward, and close with a call to be the positive training partner.
